GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Road Commission of Kalamazoo County is spending $25 million to trim trees along 130 miles of busy rural roads to improve safety after a windstorm left many dead limbs and downed trees, which drove the most complaints among residents. • Kalamazoo Mayor David Anderson and local officials urged Michigan’s congressional delegation Friday morning to defend clean energy investments as rising electricity demand and high Midwest utility rates pose challenges — they noted that 2023 clean energy laws have boosted local jobs and improved community health — and they called for swift action.  WKZO

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services released its annual Safe Fish Guidelines on June 6 to help West Michigan fishers decide which fish to eat this weekend.
