- ➤ Kik Pool at 1018 Walter Street in Kalamazoo will have a soft opening on Monday, June 9 as lifeguard training continues, so it will be closed Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning next week. From Monday to Wednesday and on Sunday, lap swim runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and open swim from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.—normal hours are set to resume on Wednesday, June 18 while season passes are available at the Kzoo Parks office. - ➤ West Michigan is hosting a series of Pride month events in June to honor the Stonewall Riots with festivals, parades, dance parties, and more across several counties. - ➤ The Road Commission of Kalamazoo County is spending $25 million to trim trees along 130 miles of busy rural roads to improve safety after a windstorm left many dead limbs and downed trees, which drove the most complaints among residents. The commission replaced chemical sprays that slowed tree growth with regular trimming — a change aimed at reducing crashes caused by drivers running off the road. WKZO
