- ➤ Volunteers cleaned up litter and invasive plants from Verburg and Mayors' Riverfront parks for the Kalamazoo Riverside Parks Beautification Project, which ran Saturday and Sunday. The project (a collaboration among Michigan Waterways Stewards, Kalamazoo Parks and Recreation, and local agencies) will next hold an Adopt A Tree program in the fall. WWMT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ At about 10:58 p.m. Saturday night, officers arrived on East North Street where 200 to 250 people had gathered outside a business and found a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest who was pronounced dead at about 11:39 p.m. as several agencies worked together to secure the scene and KDPS asks anyone with information to call its tip line. - ➤ Local leaders and residents are debating a new housing plan after developments on Rose and Wall Streets on April 10 sparked discussions about building more small homes on small lots.
