  • Timothy Light, a respected local academic and philanthropist, died Dec. 14 at 87. He served as provost at K-College and WMU and advanced Chinese studies + arts, leaving a lasting impact on education and community programs.  MLive

  • Officials announced that Palisades Nuclear Generating Station along Lake Michigan in Covert Township will start up in early 2026 after maintenance + safety inspections ensure long-term reliable operation.  MLive

  • Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety received $500,000 state funding on Friday, Dec. 19 for a second set of fire turnout gear. The new gear is expected to lower cancer risk & boost safety for first responders.  MLive
