ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Transforming a 119-acre riverfront property into Riverside Park, Saugatuck Township secured a $2.5 million state grant from the Michigan Natural Resource Trust Fund to fund basic improvements including parking and trail maps, with future plans for accessible trails, a kayak launch, and a disc golf course.  MLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Galesburg officials asked the public for help after Oak Grove Cemetery suffered turf damage when a vehicle performed donuts over the weekend, and the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office reported tire marks near headstones (none of which were broken) urging anyone with information to call City Hall at 269-665-7000.  WWMT
  • An anonymous donor committed $23.3M over three years to boost housing support in Kalamazoo County; $11.7M will fund The Landing Place, a new family homeless shelter expected to open early in 2026 + $7.2M will back a voucher pilot program to aid rental assistance.  MLive
