- ➤ Kalamazoo County Veterans Service Office is offering $75 gift cards redeemable at Park Street Market or Midtown Fresh for veterans (with proper proof) to help support holiday meals. The program runs through Dec. 19. WKZO
- ➤ Portage has invested nearly $1.9 million in Lakeview Park using ARPA funds and local donations to expand fishing piers, install new lighting, create corn hole and ping pong areas, a memorial garden and boardwalk. Future work will include restroom renovations and a kayak launch. WKZO

- ➤ Consumers Energy and local HVAC experts advised residents to curb rising utility bills this winter by turning off heat when leaving and spinning fans clockwise; each degree dropped could save 1%-3% on bills (electric rates rose over 10% and natural gas prices increased more than 8%). WWMT

- ➤ Portage has assembled $6.2M to build a 3-mile non-motorized trail along the east shore of Austin Lake + connecting it to the Vicksburg Trail in Schoolcraft Township. The project will be completed in 2027. MLive
