- ➤ The Villas at Engleman, a new sober living project for men with at least one year of sobriety, is set to open this November at 1109 Engleman Ave and will add four 575-square-foot units with on-site parking and affordable rent (with a strict no-drug policy enforced through monthly home visits). The nonprofit will host an open house (noon–4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13) for community members to tour the units and meet staff. MLive
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ WMU will launch a free 24-seat Juice Bus that will transport students between campus and downtown Kalamazoo on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The service is planned by the university’s LBS program in partnership with local businesses + several local sponsors. WWMT
- ➤ WMU launched a free, bright teal shuttle that now takes students from Rood Hall to downtown stops on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The 30-passenger bus runs from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays — with reserved hours from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for LBS courses. - ➤ Travel consultant Barb Culberson from West Michigan remains stranded in Jamaica as Hurricane Melissa causes widespread damage and cancels her Sunday flight home.
