  • More than 500 community members will gather at Homer Stryker Field for the Kalamazoo Heart Walk, an event that will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday—hosted by the American Heart Association—aiming to raise $150,000 for CPR training and heart health research.  WWMT
  • Kzoo Parks will host the annual Halloween Forest at Milham Park at 2 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 25—families can enjoy fall-themed games, a Spooky Fun Magic Show at 3 p.m., and a costume contest with local prizes, with sponsors like Lake Michigan Credit Union supporting the event.  MLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kalamazoo city officials and PlazaCorp worked on a $96 million brownfield development project that will repurpose three sites—turning the old County Building into a boutique hotel, converting an office building on East Kalamazoo Street into housing, and changing a building on Porter Street into mixed use. The projects were scheduled for a city commission vote on Monday and will need state permits and a five-year timeline once approved.  WWMT
