ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • West North Street at Cobb Street is closed Tuesday morning because a fallen tree and power lines block the road and drivers must use northbound Mable Street or southbound Elmwood Street until it reopens with no estimated time given.  WWMT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Department of Justice said Governor Gretchen Whitmer does not have the power to revoke Enbridge Energy’s permit for the Line 5 pipeline in the Straits of Mackinac — ruling that the permit remains with the company despite her earlier pledge to shut it down.  WKZO
  • Oshtemo Township approved the demolition of a house at 6227 Stadium Drive—deemed a public safety concern after repeated break-ins—and will work with the Kalamazoo County Road Commission to design a new road connecting Stadium Drive to Atlantic Avenue over the next year or two to improve traffic safety.  MLive
  • Lawmakers from both sides said a government shutdown is unlikely before Sept. 30 even as fights over road funding and state spending continue—delays could impact services like school meals and healthcare payments. Kalamazoo Rep. Rogers added she is cautiously optimistic a budget deal will be reached before the deadline.  WWMT
