- ➤ Michigan's unemployment rate fell to 5.2% in August—a drop of 0.1 percent—even as 7,000 jobs were lost and 6,000 fewer people filed for unemployment. The national rate increased to 4.3%, leaving Michigan about 0.9 points above the national average. WKZO

- ➤ Pavilion Township Planning Commission postponed a proposal to change zoning rules for a potential data center after nearly 50 residents voiced concerns on Sept. 18—residents worried it might pollute water and raise energy costs. The commission will revisit the decision in October after further review of public comments. MLive
- ➤ Governor Whitmer appointed KDPS Chief David Boysen to the Mental Health Diversion Council to help connect people facing mental health challenges to support and treatment until Jan. 20, 2029 — his role is to advise on ways to keep individuals from becoming more entangled in the criminal justice system.
