- ➤ The owner of College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving invites Kalamazoo families to a free giveaway of gently used furniture and household items at his warehouse on 2927 Millcork St. on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.—each vehicle may take one item to help serve more families. WWMT

- ➤ Potbelly Sandwich Works will open its first Kalamazoo store on Sept. 15 at 4608 Stadium Drive, and a grand opening on Sept. 20 will offer gift cards valued up to $250 to the first 50 customers in line. The Chicago-based chain will serve 20 sandwich options and more for students and locals. MLive
- ➤ Consumers Energy announced Tuesday it signed a purchase agreement to sell its 13 hydroelectric dams along five Michigan rivers to Confluence Hydro—an affiliate of Hull Street Energy, LLC. The sale will require state and federal regulator approval over the next 12 to 18 months and offers job opportunities to current dam employees while Consumers Energy continues operating the facilities until closing. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Township of Kalamazoo Police is seeking two suspects in connection with an armed carjacking that occurred early Sunday on North Kendall Avenue near Santos Avenue, where a Ford SUV was found with bullet damage and victims were ordered out at gunpoint—witnesses described one suspect as a white male in his early 20s and the other as a light-skinned male in a dark blue hooded jacket with no one injured.
