- ➤ A 24-year-old man was arrested for allegedly throwing a brick through a window and breaking into Cooper Market at 8005 Douglas Avenue in Cooper Township late Friday night — deputies found him nearby and took him into custody at Kalamazoo County Jail. WKZO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Kalamazoo City Commission set dates to narrow candidates for a new city manager, with a closed session on October 6 and interviews on October 15. Current manager Jim Ritsema retires in November and a meet and greet at Capital Center from 5:00—6:30 p.m. will allow the public to learn more before a contract is negotiated and a new manager starts before Halloween. - ➤ Officials from YWCA Kalamazoo, Disability Network of Southwest Michigan, Milestone Senior Services and Cradle Kalamazoo are speaking out today to oppose the state House’s Fiscal Year 2026 budget—arguing that its funding cuts will harm services statewide.
