- ➤ Newell Brands is moving operations from its Kalamazoo design center at 3300 Research Way to its global headquarters in Atlanta after receiving tax abatements and performance grants from the city and state. The move will be completed by mid-2026—many employees will be offered relocation support. MLive
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A hot dog stand in downtown Kalamazoo had its window smashed on Aug 6 when a suspect used a chair, and owner Joey Gamrat said Copper's Dog House will remain closed for four to eight weeks—causing a loss in summer sales while fundraising continues. MLive
- ➤ Kalamazoo officials said a 28-year-old man was charged with homicide, three counts of felony firearm, armed robbery and first-degree home invasion in connection with the fatal 2021 shooting death of Gerryon Kye. MLive

- ➤ Ice skaters from across the country are competing in the Greater Kalamazoo Skating Association's Last Chance Solo Competition at Wings Event Center Valley Ice Rink from Aug. 14 to 17 to boost their rankings ahead of the national finals in September—local spectators are welcome to attend free today.
