- ➤ Construction is underway on the downtown Kalamazoo Event Center, a 450,000-square-foot arena that will host sports, concerts and conferences and is set to open in fall with a parking deck for 1,176 vehicles and dedicated WMU student shuttles—its premium seating and interactive experiences will enhance the venue while a community benefits agreement is in development. - ➤ Residents in Portage heard the distinctive sound of a UH-1 Huey 'Greyhound' helicopter on Saturday as part of an aviation experience offered by the Air Zoo in partnership with the Michigan Flight Museum. The restored Huey that once transported troops in Vietnam flew again on Sunday — walk-in tickets cost just over $120. WWMT
