ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Morgen Baird crashed hard into the wall between turns three and four during the NASCAR Truck Series race on June 7, causing a 20-minute delay as track workers repaired the damage—drivers were parked on the backstretch until the fix was completed.  MLive

  • Kalamazoo Pride 2025 kicked off Friday evening at Arcadia Creek Festival Place and continued on Saturday with festivities starting at 2 p.m.—organizers expect a turnout similar to last year's record of 26,000 people.  WWMT
  • News Channel 3 celebrated its 75th anniversary by joining the 41st annual Do-Dah Parade on June 7th, 2025— the event showcased a 'Once Upon a Time' theme focused on storytelling.  WWMT

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • PlazaCorp told city officials of a plan to redevelop the old Kalamazoo courthouse into a 127-room boutique hotel with a restaurant, bar and speakeasy that will preserve the building's exterior, with work set to begin in 2029 and finish in 2030. The developer also plans to convert vacant sites at Spearflex and 619 Porter St into residential units, with the three projects exceeding $100 million and the commission set to review proposals this fall—boosting local jobs and tourism.  MLive
