EDUCATION NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kalamazoo County is accepting bids for contracts to build affordable housing projects and provide residential services using $2.8 million from the Homes for All housing millage—approved by voters in 2020 and credited with adding 1,400 housing units—as housing director Mary Balkema said rising home costs now outpace wages while developers face higher construction costs, interest rates and long permitting processes.  WKZO
  • Kalamazoo County received $406,563 as reimbursement for a climate control fix at the Judge Charles A. Pratt Justice Center after air handler units were installed in the wrong places—causing an airflow imbalance. County commissioners voted on June 3 to amend the agreement with TowerPinkster while repairs completed between October and April resolved the issue.  MLive
