- ➤ ITC will begin low-flying helicopter inspections of high-voltage lines on May 27 and continue through late June. Residents in Kalamazoo may notice helicopters flying from June 12+17 as crews check for equipment damage and vegetation hazards. MLive

- ➤ Strong storms on Monday left Prairie Township residents clearing fallen trees, damaged docks, and power outages; crews worked Tuesday to remove debris from lakes + assist homeowners with repairs. WWMT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting July 20, Kalamazoo Metro Transit will update several bus routes to improve safety and access. Changes will affect stops on Westnedge, Parchment, Burdick & East Main to better serve growing neighborhoods and key destinations. WWMT
- ➤ Kalamazoo City Commission approved a new Northside social district on May 18 that lets patrons open carry alcohol in special cups at venues like Brewery Outré and Papa’s Italian Sausage; the district covers Gull St + E. Ransom St + North Pitcher St + East North St. MLive
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Local sports fans can vote on the Kalamazoo-area Athlete of the Week poll featuring 50 competitors from May 11 — 16; votes will be accepted until 11 a.m. Friday, May 22. MLive
- ➤ Kalamazoo Central held a signing day ceremony Monday afternoon in its auditorium to honor 28 college-bound athletes who signed with 16 colleges - two pledged Division-I programs and historic achievements included state titles in track and diving.
