- ➤ Local entrepreneur Meka Phillips opened a fried doughnut stand for mini doughnuts on May 7 outside Dessert First at 220 Eleanor St to mark her one-year anniversary — she sells eight doughnuts for $7 and plans to hire an employee. - ➤ Three men with past felony convictions were arrested in Kalamazoo on May 15 during a drug bust on Fox Ridge Drive that led officers to seize stolen guns, drugs, ammunition, and cash — all now face multiple felony charges. WWMT
- ➤ Kalamazoo police, assisted by DEA and ATF, seized firearms including two reported stolen, fentanyl, meth, heroin and cash at Fox Ridge Apartments on May 15 — three men with previous felony records were arrested and now face multiple charges. MLive
- ➤ A 70-year-old Battle Creek man was killed in a vehicle-bicycle accident in the Urbandale neighborhood near Michigan Avenue and North Mason at 11:20 p.m. on late Sunday — police said the vehicle fled the scene until a 24-year-old Kalamazoo woman called dispatch and was subsequently jailed on charges amid indications of alcohol and marijuana use.
