- ➤ Open Roads Bike Program launched a $750,000 capital campaign to renovate a 10,000 sqft building at 914 E Vine Street into a bike hub and youth center for over 1,100 young locals. The project will add classrooms + shop space and extended hours + boost mentoring and learning. WKZO
- ➤ Gold Star Mothers of Western Michigan held a walk-a-thon Sunday in Paw Paw to raise funds for service dogs for veterans and a memorial at Maple City Veterans Memorial Park scheduled for November, with walkers carrying banners to honor loved ones lost to suicide. WWMT

- ➤ Kalamazoo Public Schools reported 6,061 suspensions through April 29 in the 2025-26 school year, a drop from 10,117 last year, as officials credit enhanced discipline policies and student support—though 18.2% of students have been suspended. District leaders plan to further reduce suspensions. MLive
- ➤ 21-year-old Mikala Sposito from Dexter will represent the U.S. as the first woman in welding at the WorldSkills Competition in China this September. She earned her spot after winning the USA Weld Trials in Huntsville and is coached by her Washtenaw Community College instructor. WWMT
