Kalamazoo police help homeless people who are dropped off from other cities without a plan — the KDPS Community Services Team, led by Sgt. Amil Alwan, expanded this year to link them with safe housing, treatment, and transport when needed.

Two people were hospitalized after a shooting Sunday morning around 1:08 a.m. on North Westnedge near West Frank Street in Kalamazoo — police said a suspect remains at large.

At 1:18 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a shooting on the 700 block of North Westnedge Avenue—two victims later went to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries while the suspect remains at large.
