- ➤ Kalamazoo Public Safety investigated a fatal shooting on the north side on April 24th when officers arrived at the 1200 block of North Park St at 10:48 p.m. and found a man with a fatal gunshot wound—an investigation is ongoing. WWMT

- ➤ The Association of Lincoln Presenters selected Kalamazoo to host its 29th annual conference from Thursday evening to Sunday morning, April 27. The free events will include lectures, a Civil War Ball, and historical plays (featuring Lincoln’s local speech) and trivia (open to the public). WWMT

- ➤ A local resident who bought a Michigan Lottery Lotto 47 ticket at the Speedway station on South Westnedge Ave in Kalamazoo won a $5.46 million jackpot, marking the second win in 2025. - ➤ Kalamazoo Public Schools board voted to add a rule that requires all middle and high school students to walk through metal detectors every day starting fall—this move aims to boost safety after school shootings elsewhere. - ➤ Kalamazoo Public Schools trustees unanimously approved the daily use of AI-powered weapons detectors at middle and high schools this fall — a move intended to boost safety amid rising concerns over weapons on campus.
