ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two kayakers who were paddling on the Kalamazoo River hit a log and flipped on April 6 near the 1100 block of 32 Street in Trowbridge Township—police and local agencies rescued them and treated minor injuries and cold exposure.  MLive
  • A parked sedan along I-94 near the 69-mile marker on April 7th was hit by a semi—truck that could not stop—injuring the driver, and county officials are now investigating with help from Texas Township Fire Department and Life EMS.  WWMT
  • On April 7th, Allegan County deputies rescued two kayakers whose kayak overturned in the Kalamazoo River and treated them for minor injuries and cold exposure—deputies warn people to avoid the river because of high water levels, cold water temperatures and trees knocked down by recent storms—.  WKZO

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • V’s Bogeys and Stogies — a golf simulator bar with a speakeasy vibe — offers local golfers top-of-line TrackMan simulators, whiskey flights, and a free putting range in Texas Township. The bar opens daily with different hours and will start a 13-week summer league on June 1 for both members and the public.  MLive

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Kalamazoo Country Club is being remodeled with new high-end features such as multiple pools, courts for pickleball, tennis and racquetball, indoor and outdoor lounges, and expanded golf course areas designed by Andrew Green — the work is done by Greenleaf Hospitality Group. The club will open in early 2026 — and it is set to add new jobs for many roles.  MLive

SPORTS NEWS

  • Hundreds of youth hockey players competed in the USA Hockey 14U Tier II National Championship tournament held over the weekend in Kalamazoo — which brought nearly $2 million to the local economy. Executive director Matt Kakabeeke said the event, featuring more than 40 teams and around 800 players, was hosted for the second time and his association is encouraged to apply to host again.  WKZO
