ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday afternoon, a large tree fell on a minivan in Climax Township, killing three children from Branch County—while their parents and a fourth child were hospitalized as the vehicle was less than a mile from its destination with no warning of the falling tree. WKZO
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Bronson Park will host the 74th Annual Kalamazoo Institute of Arts Fair on June 6—from 3 to 8 p.m.—and June 7—from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free fair will showcase juried hand-crafted art, food truck fare, family activities, live music, and Saturday’s Best in Category awards at 10 a.m. with a $375 prize for each winner. - ➤ Rapper Juicy J, an original member of Three 6 Mafia, will perform Saturday, April 12 at Miller Auditorium (1341 Theatre Drive) as part of the WMU Campus Activities Board concert series in Kalamazoo. General tickets cost $20 for WMU students and $30 for all others. MLive
- ➤ Filmmakers in Kalamazoo will compete in a 48 hours long film fest starting Friday, April 4 at 6 p.m. and ending Sunday, April 6 at 6 p.m. as teams create films lasting from one to six minutes for a gold kazoo prize—this sixth-year event features separate categories for amateurs and professionals. - ➤ Four tornadoes were confirmed in West Michigan from severe storms on Sunday, with the National Weather Service citing surveys from Grand Rapids and northern Indiana. The Caledonia tornado lasted five minutes along a 4-mile path with winds of 80 mph, the Edwardsburg tornado reached EF-1 status with 100 mph winds over 2.1 miles, the Leslie tornado crossed Leslie with 75 mph winds, and a tornado in lower Newaygo county registered winds of 65 mph, with no injuries reported.
