  • A surge of calls and threats led Congressman Bill Huizenga to shut off voicemails and use a phone tree with an online comment form on March 19 at his Portage office—critics say this makes it harder for constituents to speak directly with staff. Protesters delivered their letters through a mail slot when visiting his office.  MLive

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Western Michigan University men’s hockey team claimed its first Frozen Faceoff Championship after Alex Bump scored the double-overtime game-winning goal in a 4-3 win over Denver Saturday night — head coach Pat Ferschweiler recorded his 100th win and the team secured its 30th victory of the season. WMU will learn its NCAA Tournament opponent and location later today at 3:00 p.m. on ESPNU.  WKZO
