- ➤ WMU students can join Cultivate 269, a Shark Tank-style pitch competition hosted by Kalamazoo Forward Ventures, with submissions open through Feb. 27, public voting through March 12 and finalist pitches on April 10 at the WMU Student Center (local alumni promote entrepreneurial spirit). WWMT
- ➤ Kalamazoo Public Schools are holding Saturday school for students needing extra help in math and reading starting this weekend; third graders + eighth graders will meet at the Edison building and Maple Street from 9 a.m. to noon for five Saturdays, with breakfast and lunch provided. WKZO

- ➤ Kalamazoo will update its drinking water treatment system soon as city officials phase in a new orthophosphate approach that forms a protective lining on pipes—reducing the risk of lead leaching—and replace every lead service line at a projected $13 million cost; brief water discoloration may occur. - ➤ Twenty-six restaurants in Kalamazoo County are hosting Restaurant Week that began Feb. 20 and runs through Feb. 28; each is offering a $10 menu option to support local dining during winter and give residents a chance to try a range of unique dishes, including signature appetizers at Alibi in Portage.
