Good morning, Kalamazoo.

Consumers Energy is partnering with Kalamazoo Metro Transit to distribute more than 1,500 hand warmers and winter gear—along with free rides to warming shelters—to help residents cope with ongoing cold and snowy conditions; the program will run through Sunday and may extend if weather remains harsh.

A water main break closed Spring Valley Center for Exploration today while other schools remain open as officials assess repair times.

The city has not explained what caused the break.
