Good morning, Kalamazoo. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 29th of January.

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A car buried under a massive snow pile near West Main Street and Drake Road is estimated to become accessible by early to mid May if average weather persists. Meteorologist Collin Rogers used average temperature formulas to predict the pile will grow from 12 to 15 feet before it melts.  WWMT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City crews are working 12-hour shifts today to clear heavy snow and windblown debris from streets despite parked cars blocking narrow routes; officials urge residents (on odd-even parking days) to move vehicles and help keep roads safe.  WWMT

HEALTH NEWS

  • Below freezing temperatures and heavy snow affect student mental health as low sunlight fuels winter blues. Kalamazoo College and Western Michigan University offer light therapy lamps and support, and experts advise staying active — even with short outdoor breaks — to cope.  WWMT
