  • Axel Armando Zuniga-Rivera was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Marcell Savon Alguarelles-Bell in Kalamazoo, 2023.  MLive

  • The Barrio Tacos + Tequila + Whiskey in downtown Kalamazoo closed less than a year after opening, planning a move to a beach location.  MLive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Eighth grade students at Kalamazoo Christian Middle School raised around $4,000 for Kenyan students by solving math problems, partnering with H2O for Life to improve access to clean drinking water.  WWMT
  • Loy Norrix High School in Kalamazoo is set to receive $7.6 million in upgrades funded by a 2022 bond, incorporating new ceilings, lighting, HVAC systems, and improved security features.  MLive

    In honor of MLK's yearly day of service, Milestone Senior Services is hosting a Birthday Cake Kit Drive with donation requests of a cake mix, icing, a can of Sprite (or other lemon-lime soda), candles, and decorative elements such as colored sugar, sprinkles, etc. Any items can be brought to Milestone Senior Services, 918 Jasper, Kalamazoo, MI 49001, where kits will be assembled and given to Loaves and Fishes for distribution to families to help them celebrate a special day!
